MOHAN Foundation Speaks About Organ Donation at Arunodhaya Field staff, Korukkupet

  • On 14th December 2013, Mohan Foundation organised a sensitization program on Organ Donation at Arunodhaya Field staff, Korukkupet, Chennai. The objective of the programme was to educate the field staff on the concept of organ donation.  Mr. Prakash K, Transplant coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai gave a presentation on Organ Donation.

     

     The programme began with a welcome address by Mr. Laxmanan, Education-Thematic Facilitator, Arunodhaya. Mr. Prakash K. delivered a talk on organ donation. In his session he covered following topics: Importance of Organ donation, difference between the brain death and coma, Eye donation, what organs can be donated and the importance of  donor card.

     

    In this programme 25 staff participated and 20 of them picked a donor card. The following questions were asked by the staff such as how the organs are allocated, whom to contact in the case of natural death for eye donation and who certifies the brain death. All the question were answered by the transplant coordinator. Finally the staff requested  MOHAN Foundation to conduct a programme for all the field staff at Arunodhaya.
