  • An awareness session was conducted at IIT Delhi, Hauz Khas on 12th August 2014 by MOHAN Foundation. The session was organized and coordinated by Navjot Kaur, NSS team, IIT Delhi.

National Service Scheme (NSS) under the ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India was launched in Gandhiji's birth centenary in the year 1969, in 37 universities involving 40,000 students with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service. The NSS team of IIT Delhi is a very proactive team who has always taken up meaningful constructive causes and spreading awareness on organ donation has always been in the forefront because this year's session was held for the third consecutive year in collaboration with MOHAN Foundation.

The session was addressed by Dr. Muneet Sahi, Senior Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR. There were a total of 60 participants and she started off by asking them general questions regarding the topic of brain death and organ donation in general to gauge the knowledge of the participants. She delivered a PowerPoint presentation which briefly and concisely explained the various legal terms and conditions of organ donations, the various types of donations being-live and deceased, the circumstances surrounding brain death and its certification and the myths that surrounds the theme.

The session was interactive as students were giving answers in context to the subject hence the discussions proved to be productive. A student recalled the previous year's Times of India campaign and shared with the audience that his father had pledged his organs by filling up the Foundation's organ donor card.

The session ended with questions answered satisfactorily and students seemingly moved by the presentation and the video shown on brain death. 60 students attended the talk and 65 donor cards were picked up.
