“Angels of Change” Volunteer Training Program at MGR Adarsh Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mogappair Day 1

  • Eager and smiling faces welcomed MOHAN Foundation staff at the MGR Adarsh Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mogappair East on June 30th,2017.  They were gathered to undertake an Angels of Change Training Program conducted by MOHAN Foundation.  An enthusiastic group of 25 students of 11th and 12th standard attended the program. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Mr. Siva Shankar T S and  Ms. Stina B Manjila represented MOHAN Foundation.

    Welcome speech was given by Principal, Mr. Justin Rajanayagam who introduced MOHAN Foundation to the students. All the students were welcomed with pinning a green ribbon on their shirt and also given a Resource manual and Resource CD. Dr.Hemal Kanvinde started the session by explaining the concept of Angels of Change program and the need for more volunteers to come forward and spread the message of organ donation. Mr. Siva Shankar T S proceeded the session with the concepts of brain death, need for organ donation, age criteria for organ donation, donor card etc, followed by a question and answer session.

    After the session the students were asked to write down their queries on organ donation. Some of the queries were:

    1. Will the donor in case of live donation get some disease after donation?

    2. Will the organs from an old person be transplanted to a young person?

    3. Will the organs go wasted if there is no suitable recipient?

    Post this session, a short video on Brain Death and another video which depicts the life of patients before and after the transplant were shown to the participants. The students were asked to form groups and present some ideas to create awareness about organ donation during the next session of the training.
