Hannah Jones, of Marden, Herefordshire has changed her mind about not having a life-saving heart transplant and has now decided to go ahead with the surgery.

The 14-year-old Hannah, who suffered from leukemia as a child, told The Times that she has changed her mind. "I know I decided I definitely didn't want this, but everyone's entitled to change their mind," she said following her birthday celebrations last week. "The right side of my heart isn't beating at all and, after lots of tests, I realised there were more benefits to having a new heart to staying like I was."

Last November Hannah had told doctors that she did not want a transplant as she was tired of all the treatments she had been having till then.

A spokesman for NHS Herefordshire refused to comment on her decision only saying, "Our paediatricians work closely with Hannah and her family to ensure she has the care and support she needs, including Hannah's medical, emotional and psychological wellbeing."
