Donor Memorial

  • Miss. Renuka   - 18 Years

Miss. Renuka 18yrs old was one of four siblings. She had just completed her 12th standard and was living with her family in Thirunendravur, Thiruvallur district. A normal young girl who loved to be in touch with her friends, she was always on the phone.

On 20th of August 2014 Renuka was sitting on the parapet of her terrace playing games in her mobile. Her father called her down, but she lost balance and fell from the terrace to the ground. She was taken to Nila hospital at Ambattur from there she was referred to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai the same night. The next day the family came to know that their daughter was brain dead. This news was shocking for the family members and they were not in a state to accept the situation. MOHAN Foundation counselors, spoke to the family of the inevitability of brain death and later about the chance to give life to others.

Initially Renuka's father Mr. Ramadoss was not ready to listen to counselors and broke down completely. Around midnight he accepted the reality and took the decision to consent for organ donation. He called the counselor and told them about his decision.

Today, Ramadoss feels proud of his daughter because at such a young age she was able to save many people's life. He said that the family is trying its best to survive their loss but they are happy that at least her organs are surviving in the universe.

We salute Ms. Renuka's family for their courageous decision and for giving for new life to so many patients.
