Tamil play on Organ Donation and awareness stall at The Fine Arts Society (Chembur Fine Arts)

  • Mrs.Bhanu Kumar wrote, directed and acted in a play which included a scene that depicted the confusion, dilemma and stress that a family goes through when approached for consent to donate their loved one’s organs.

She had earlier reached out to MOHAN Foundation, Mumbai for guidance on the subject of Organ donation.  It was then wonderfully depicted in the scene, wherein a family doctor approaches the main character (Mrs. Bhanu Kumar) about donating her husband’s organs, while her sister-in-law raised huge doubts and was originally not in favour of the concept of organ donation. The main character then goes on to convince her sister in law that this is what her husband wanted and had explicitly informed her after attending an awareness talk in his office on organ donation.

In the scene, the character playing the doctor explains the facts very well and was well appreciated for her role.

On 9th April 2018, MOHAN Foundation Mumbai setup a stall at the foyer outside the Auditorium. A few people signed up and took the Pledge.

We are extremely grateful to Mrs.Bhanu Kumar for incorporating such an emotional and difficult subject into her play and reaching out to the 600-odd audience who attended the play. We are also thankful to her for helping us setup the awareness stall.
