  MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dr. D. T. Powar, Regional Transport Officer, Nagpur   to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for drivers who apply for vehicles registration and driving license. The awareness session was conducted on 10^th May 2016.

  Mr. Bulu Behera delivered a talk on Organ donation. In his talk he explained the following points:

  • Importance and need of Organ donation.
  • Types of donations –Live and deceased donation

  • What is live organ donation & it is legal?
  • Brain death and its clinical tests.
  • Which hospitals are doing kidney transplant in Nagpur?

  • Difference between Natural death, Coma and Brain Death.

  • THO Act and myths related to Organ donation.
  • Importance of Donor card, Helpline number and website.

   

  It was a very interactive session. Approximately 30 drivers were present during the talk. 5 drivers took the donor card.

  The Participants asked the following questions:-

  In case of natural death which organ and tissue can be donated?

  How you know donor card holder is no more?
