Organ Donation rally inside and outside MIT campus.

  • NSS Motto – “Not me But You”

    On 5th February 2014, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) organized rally at MIT Campus and in the streets of Chrompet. This initiative was taken by Mr. Rajesh, NSS – Coordinator.

     

    Nearly 250 NSS volunteers took part in the rally.  They had prepared slogans in Tamil and all through the rally the slogans were shouted to create a buzz in the public.  Two volunteers and MOHAN Foundation staff shared information brochures with the public. The rally started at Golden Jubilee ground, MIT Campus and went around Chrompet via Nehru Street and ended at the starting place. The rally was flagged off by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Manager, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai.

     

    After the students returned to the campus there was a short session on Organ Donation given by Ms. Kavitha S. Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai. She covered the following topics:  When one can donate, who can donate, how organs are donated, importance of youth in the noble cause. Mr. Avinash, an alumnus of MIT and a kidney recipient, gave an inspiring speech stating how important is Organ Donation and because of the donation that he received, his life got changed.

     

    At the end of the session, participation certificates were distributed and as a symbol of support, a signing campaign was organized. All the NSS volunteers showed their support by signing on the support banner.
