Organ Donation Awareness Talk At Sitabai Nargundkar College Of Nursing, Nagpur

  • A talk by Dr. Ravi Wankhede on Organ donation awareness was given at Maharshi Karve Stree Shiksha Sanstha’s Sitabai Nargundkar College of Nursing, Nagpur on 6th February 2016. Dr. Wankhede was invited by the Principal of the College Mrs. Rupa Verma to enlighten the Nursing staff and students on the subject.

    Dr. Ravi Wankhede through his PPP explained the importance and need for donating organs and tissues, with special emphasis on the role played by the Nursing staff therein. The talk ranged from the historic, legal, social and medical points of view. He informed the audience that nurses who have knowledge of the subject can be good counselors to talk to the relatives of the patients who can donate organs and tissues. He explained in dept the meaning of ‘brain death’ a condition and the miracle man is capable of carrying out by donating several organs and tissues.

    Earlier Mrs. Sophie Caleb the Associate Professor and NSS Co-ordinator introduced Dr. Ravi Wankhede to the audience. Ms. Vinita Yadav conducted the program while Mrs. Sarika Bhange proposed a vote of thanks. About 100 staff and students were present in the audience. Pledge forms were handed over to the Principal, who promised to hand over the same after the pledge. Five participants signed the pledged, and were given donor cards.
