  • MOHAN Foundation’s third Masterclass on Counselling was held on 5th June 2010 from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.. Mrs. Chandni Srinivasan, counselor and expert faculty, delivered a lecture on Anger management, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Psychology of Gender. About 15 participants took part in the class.

Anger is a kind of emotion that may be expressed either in the form of violence or in a silent manner. When the anger level goes beyond a person’s control then it may hurt others. Aggressive behavior, serious drug or alcohol use, withdrawal from friends and regular activities, rejection are a few signs of anger. Anger Management Techniques and Relaxation Therapy were discussed under this topic.

The second topic taken for discussion was Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. People with PTSD experience trauma along with intense fear, hopelessness or horror and then develop intrusive symptoms. Mrs.Chandni spoke about some of the coping strategies for PTSD.

In gender psychology, an interesting discussion took place on the following chapters.

    • Characteristics and ideologies of gender.
    •
    • Different reactions to stressful situations.

All the participants actively contributed to the discussion by giving their perspectives on gender characteristics and clarified some doubts with the faculty.

All in all, it was a very interesting, informative and informal session.
