MOHAN Foundation conducts session on deceased organ donation in the 2nd COREP, Chennai.

  • The second Conference of Renal Healthcare Professionals (COREP) was held at Madras Medical Mission (MMM) on 28th and 29th June 2014. This one of its kind conference which brings together dieticians, dialysis technicians, medical social workers together was the brainchild of the late Dr. Vidya Acharya. 

     

    At the inauguration, Dr. Bharat Shah paid a rich tribute to Dr. Vidya Acharya and the first Dr. Vidya Acharya Memorial Lecture was on the topic of "Malnutrition in CKD Patients." It was delivered by Dr. Anita Saxena of SGPGMI. The Guests of Honour at the inauguration were Dr. Nirmala Jesudason, Clinical Dietician at Frontier Lifeline Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Regi Abraham, VP MMM.   After the inauguration there was an entertainment program which included three scintillating dance performances.

     

    The conference was held in two halls with two parallel sessions. There were sessions on diet of renal patients, meeting the needs of pediatric patients and vegetarian patients. 

    Eminent speakers spoke on the latest development in peritoneal dialysis, treatment of critically ill patients, pediatric patients, issues of vascular access and quality standards.

     

    There were debates, panel discussions, workshops and a quiz in order to engage the delegates. 

     

    MOHAN Foundation was involved in organising the sessions on social work and renal health care.  The talks were on the topics of renal social workers, psychosocial impact of CKD on patients, patient education, training of transplant coordinators, and patient welfare. 

     

    Prevention of CKD through awareness was discussed.  MOHAN Foundation conducted sessions on Deceased organ donation, brain death, grief counselling and the transplant law in the final plenary session of the conference. 

     

    Around 200 students and 50 professionals attended the conference. There were 45 faculty who enriched the minds of the delegates.
