International Women’s Day celebration with a cause at Christ Faith Home for Children

  • On 8th March 2016 MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness programme organised by Christ Faith Home for Children (CFHC), Manapakkam. The programme was organised and coordinated by Ms. Christy, Social Worker CFHC. Ms. Sunitha Transplant Coordinator MOHAN Foundation participated in the programme and delivered a talk on deceased organ donation in Tamilnadu.

    Around 70 parents and staff of the CFHC attended the program. It started with the prayer song followed by a welcome by Ms. Sunitha Joe Coordinator, CFHC in which she shared her personal experience on searching for the suitable donor from the family when her brother was diagnosed with kidney failure, She mentioned that each and every one should know the procedure in the organ donation and transplantation, Ms. Sunitha Transplant Coordination delivered a talk on the concept of organ donation. She covered the following points

    • What is organ donation
    • Types of donation
    • Brain death and Natural death
    • How to registry for organs
    • Role of TRANSTAN 
    • Myths on organ donation
    • Helpline  number and website
    • MOHAN Foundation Activities 

    At the end of the day Mrs. R. Vasanthi, Vice President CFHC delivered the vote of thanks she mentioned the special thanks to MOHAN Foundation for accepting their request for the programme also thanked the women for participating in the event and making the day meaningful. After the session they conducted games for the parents and distributed prizes.

    Queries raised during the session

    1.      After registering in the wait list how long does it take to get an organ?

    2.      If the donor’s next of kin is a organ failure patient can the family demand for the organ?

    3.      Whom to inform for the skin donation if the donor is from other district?

    4.      Why government hospital not doing heart and lung transplant?

    5.      How long the recipient can survive after the liver and heart transplant?
