Hemalatha Memorial Talk Inspires Nursing Students to Take Up Organ Donation - Day 3 and Valedictory Function

  • The third day started with the Hemalatha  Memorial Talk by Ms. Sunitha, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation. About 163 students studying in third and fourth year attended the talk.

     

    Mr. Prakash, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation explained the  Concepts of organ donation, who, where, what, when, whom and how the organs can be donated and transplanted.  Following  that, Ms. Kavitha. S. spoke on brain dead patient maintenance, grief counselling and role of nurse in the process. A Documentary Film  on organ donation was  also screened for the students.

     

    Various competitions were organized like slogan, poetry writing, poster designing and role play. The students were eager to participate in these activities.  Mr. Prakash and Mr. Jeyabal Transplant Coordinators conducted a Quiz competition.  

     

    Valedictory Function

     

    Mr. Sreekumar, Project Manager, Cadaver Transplant Programme, Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Manager of MOHAN Foundation,  Ms. Prasana, and Ms. Surgunam, Tutor, School of Nursing, Madras Medical College were invited as Chief Guests for the Valedictory Function.

     

    The event started by the welcome address and overview of three days event by Mr. Jeyabal, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, he mentioned that more than 500 students were addressed in these 3 days and all the students were very active. Following that the chief guests gave their comments on the events carried out in the three day campaign.

     

    The winners’ names were announced and prizes were distributed and certificates were handed over to the staff in charge of each year. The event came to end with a  vote of thanks rendered by Ms. Sunitha, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation.

     

    Our heartfelt thank you the principal, vice principal, staff of School of Nursing and Dr. Amolorpavanthan,  Convenor, Cadaver Transplant Programme for the support and motivation to make this a grand successes.
