Deceased Organ Donation Awareness session at Regional Transport Office, Nagpur

• MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dr. D. T. Powar, Regional Transport Officer, Nagpur   to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for drivers who apply for vehicles registration and driving license on 20^th May 2016.

  Mr. Bulu Behera delivered a talk on Organ donation. In his talk he explained the following points:-

  • Importance and need of Organ donation.
  • Types of donations –Live and deceased donation
  • Difference between Natural death, Coma and Brain Death.

  • Which hospital is doing kidney transplant in Nagpur?

  • THO Act and myths related to Organ donation.
  • Importance of Donor card, Helpline number and website.

   

  It was a very interactive session. Approximately 40 drivers were present during the talk. 10 drivers took the consent form .They want to sign consent form after discussing with their family.

   

  The Participants asked the following questions:-

  What is the cause of Brain tumor?

  Coma patient will recover?

  Why hospital charging so much cost for Organ Transplant?
