CME on Organ Donation at Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon in partnership with MOHAN Foundation

  • On February 10, 2014 a CME on organ donation & transplantation was organized in the auditorium of Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon. The session was primarily organized to sensitize the staff on organ donation as Artemis Hospital moves forward to start the deceased organ donation programme in the near future in partnership with MOHAN Foundation. The event was coordinated by Dr Ramdip Ray, Senior Consultant, Liver & Hepatobiliary Surgery, Artemis Hospital.

     

    Dr Manju Aggarwal, Senior Nephrologist welcomed the speakers and said that the hospital is keen to make the deceased organ donation program successful. She said that everyone at Artemis was looking forward to the partnership with MOHAN Foundation.

     

    Dr Ramdip Ray made a presentation on the transplant program at Artemis. He stressed on the need of what each one of us as individuals could do to promote organ donation and the importance of organ donation in the context of a successful transplant program.

     

    The chief guest for the CME was Dr Mainak Majumdar, Medical Donation Specialist & Intensivist, Peninsula Health, Frankston. Dr Mainik spoke on the determination of futility of therapy, screening of potential donors and integration of organ and tissue donation requesting into end of life care and his experience as a donation specialist in Australia

     

    Ms Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director, MOHAN Foundation (Delhi-NCR) gave a presentation on organ donation, various concepts, THO Act and the myths surrounding organ donation.

     

    The participants included Dr Vishal Sehgal, Medical Superintendent & Head, Emergency & Trauma Services, Artemis Hospital and many senior doctors from critical care,nephrology and transplant team.

     

    About 100 people attended the talk and around 50 took organ donor cards.
