Awareness session on Organ Donation at K & S Partners, Gurgaon

  • On August 5, 2015, an awareness session on organ donation was organized by MOHAN Foundation in association with Max Super specialty Hospital at K&S Partners, Gurgaon. The session was made possible through an initiative taken by Dr. Nalini Kaul (Medical Superintendent-Max hospital, Saket) and Ms.Sarbari Ghose of K & S partners.

     

    Founded in 1994 under the name 'Kumaran & Sagar' as a three member team, K&S Partners (K&S) is an Intellectual Property (IP) boutique. With over 100 professionals, it's amongst the top five IP firms in India and has offices in Gurgaon, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. It's well known for its outreach in areas of policy making and active participation in and contribution to drafting of legislation in various areas of Intellectual Property Rights.

     

    The session was taken by Ms. Pallavi Kumar with support from Sonam, wherein she talked about organ donation, brain death, myths and facts related to organ donation. She also shared the statistics of the country in regard to organ donation and stressed upon the need of public awareness to improve the organ donation rate of the country. She also briefly spoke about the THO Act and informed everyone that all transplant an organ donation activity in the country was monitored by the Act.

     

    Ms. Pallavi also spoke about eye donation and explained how simple a procedure it was and could be done even at home. Someone in the audience shared how much trouble her cousin who required a transplant underwent. She appealed to everyone to think about organ donation, as it could give a new lease of life to someone.

     

    It was a very interactive session; the participants asked many questions which were duly addressed. A total of 65 people attended the session and 35 donor cards were picked up.
