Awareness Talk at Welfare Association, Brindhavan Nagar, Madipakkam

  • On 15th August, 2013 an awareness talk on organ donation was organized at Welfare Association, Brindhavan Nagar, Madipakkam, Chennai.

     

    Ms. Sunitha A. T., Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai conducted the session. The aim of her presentation was to sensitise the gathering about the importance of organ donation. She covered the following topics: what is organ donation; who can be a donor; what are the organs can be donated before and after death; what is brain death; different between brain death and coma; and the importance of signing a donor card. In the Question and Answer session the following questions were raised: where to register for whole body donation, whether a diabetic patient can donate his organs, and in case of a natural death whom to contact to donate the corneas.

     

    There were totally 55 members of the Association who attended the session. 39 of them pledged their organs by signing the donor card. The Association thanked the Foundation for organizing the session for its members.
