Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Backward Classes Welfare Residential School, Nizampatnam

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Ramachandra Murthy to conduct an awareness session for their students at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Backward Classes Welfare Residential School, Nizampatnam, Guntur on January 02, 2015 as a part of their New Year celebrations at the school.

     

    There were about 200 students and 20 faculty members that have actively participated in the event and all the staff members were distributed donor cards and family donor cards. All the students were provided with information brochures and activity reports of MOHAN Foundation.

     

    Ms. Shanti of MOHAN Foundation spoke about the importance of deceased organ donation, religious and cultural barriers involved with organ donation & eye donation, benefits of transplantation, T.H.O 1994 Act, concept of brain death and myths surrounding organ donation.

     

    We thank Mr. Chalapati Rao, Principal and the faculty of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Backward Classes Welfare School for helping us in organizing this event to promote organ donation. We also thank all the students for their active participation and hope that this event has ignited the young minds on organ donation.

     

    As a part of our new program Public Awareness of Rural India (PARI), we welcome many more invitations from rural areas to conduct such events.
