Awareness Program for Nurses at Center Point Hospital

  • On 19th August 2014 an Organ Donation awareness talk was conducted by MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur center at Center Point Hospital, Medical Square Nagpur. MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dr.Anagha Sastri Administrative Office of the hospital. The participants were nurses.

     

    The session was conducted by Miss. Kanchan Shewde, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation. In this talk Miss.Kanchan Shewde covered the following points:   

    1. Types of donor.
    2. Cause of Brain death.
    3. Difference between Brain death &Natural death.
    4. Difference between Brain stem death & coma.
    5. Numbers of hours the various organs can be preserved before transplant.
    6. Importance of donor card.
    7. MOHAN Foundation activities & transplant coordinator training program.
    8. Grief counseling skill & How to register kidney failure patients
    9. MOHAN Foundation website & toll free helpline number.

     

    After the talk, some question asked by the participants:

    1)     Who will declare Brain death?

    2)     What is time duration for skin donation & Eye donation?

     

    There were total of15 nurses participated in the session.

    At last Dr. Anagha Sastri gave a vote of thanks to Miss. Kanchan Shewde as well as participants.
