An Interactive session on Organ Donation at Holy Cross Church, T. Nagar

  • An interactive session on Deceased Organ Donation was conducted at Holy Cross Church, T.Nagar, Chennai on 06th April 2014. On the occasion of “Lent”, MOHAN Foundation got an invitation from Ms. Josepine, a member of the parish to deliver a speech on the importance of organ donation. The message for the day “Sacrifice Oneself for Others like Jesus, Donate Organs Save Lives”. The session was facilitated by Mr. Prakash K. Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai.

     

    The programme started with an introduction by the parish priest Rev.Fr.Roy and Mr. Prakash K. spoke about concept of Organ Donation and he covered following topics:

     

    • Concept of Organ Donation
    • Who can donate
    • Types of Donations – live and deceased donation
    • Difference between Coma, Cardiac death and Brain death
    • Organs & Tissues that can be donated
    • Importance of Donor Card
    • Transplant Coordinators Training

     

    At the end of the programme Mr. Britto, Youth member thanked the participants. More than 120 members participated in the programme and 75 of them expressed their support to pledge for organ donation and picked donor cards.
