Organ Donation awareness talk conducted for cancer patients at Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Vashi Navi Mumbai

On 11thNovember 2023, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Hon. Ishanand Swami ji to conduct awareness programme on organ donation at Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Vashi – Home for cancer patients and their relatives on the occasion of Diwali programme. In second awareness talk about 28 participants participated in the session.

 Ms. Prarthana began session with introducing MOHAN Foundation and its activities.

 She then explained the below topics about organ donation.

1.   What is organ donation and its types?

2.   Importance of organ donation in India

3.   Concept of Brain death

4.   Difference between solid organs and tissues

5.   The role of transplant coordinators in hospitals

6.   Role of ZTCC was explained to the audience

7. Myths and facts about organ donation was discussed.

8. Statistics about organ donation in different countries was displayed and explained.

9.   MOHAN Foundation helpline number was displayed to the audience.

 The session was very interesting and interactive. Cancer patients and their relatives actively participated in the event. They expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Prarthana for organizing a meaningful and valuable session, which touched their hearts and motivated 26 members to pledge their organs.

 Questions asked by the audience were as follows:

  • What is the role of ZTCC in Organ Donation?
  • Can blind people donate their cornea?

Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi answered all the queries. MOHAN Foundation would like to thank Hon. Ishanand Swami ji and Mr. Harsh in-charge of Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Vashi for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation
