Online course on Transplant Coordination Professional Certificate (September 18, 2023 - October 27, 2023)

From September 18, 2023 to October 27, 2023, the MOHAN Foundation successfully conducted a six-week online course on the Transplant Coordination Professional Certificate. 51 students from Nigeria (Abia State) and India registered for the course; the students came from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh, among other Indian states.

The e-learning portal, https://el.mohanfoundation.org/, was made available to the participants so they could access resources connected to the course as well as study materials. The course design made extensive use of online assignments and assessments, which helped participants increase their expertise.

As part of the training, there were weekly interactive webinars with subject matter experts in organ donation and transplantation. The webinars allowed the participants to engage with the faculty in real time.

The topics covered during the webinar were

  • Concepts of organ donation and transplantation
  • Transplantation of Human Organs Act and its provisions
  • Brainstem death - Concept, identification and certification
  • Role of donor coordinators in deceased donor transplant programme
  • Ethical aspects of organ donation and transplantation
  • Counselling grieving families and approaching them for organ donation
  • Coordinating live donation and transplant

  • Ms. Sujatha Suriyamoorthi, Associate Director - Courses, MOHAN Foundation

An online examination was conducted on October 27, 2023 and the candidates who fulfilled the course requirements were issued course completion certificate. 70% of the respondents mentioned the course as 'Excellent' in their feedback.
