MOHAN Foundation was invited to a meeting organized by the National Organ Tissue & Transplant Organization (NOTTO) at NOTTO office, Safdarjung Hospital Campus, New Delhi

MOHAN Foundation was invited to a meeting on September 3, 2023, organized by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) to discuss the role of NGOs with NOTTO and to see a demonstration of the new pledging directory created by NOTTO at the NOTTO’s office, NIOP Building, Safdarjung Hospital Campus, New Delhi.

 

Ms. Jaya Jairam, the Project Director, MF Mumbai office, and Ms. Simran Anand, the Program Office, MF Delhi office, participated in the meeting online and in person, respectively. Organizations like Organ India, Doctors for You, Dadhichi Deh Daan Samiti, Donate Life, and Akhil Bhartiya Ayurvedic Sansthan were just a few of the groups that attended the gathering.

 

Dr Atul Goel, Director General of Health Services (DGHS), outlined the meeting's objectives and welcomed the attendees. A brief round of introductions was then held with the guest NGOs.

 

Dr Anil Kumar, NOTTO Director, shared with the attendees that NOTTO, in collaboration with The National Health Authority (NHA), had developed and launched an online organ donation pledge registry. On September 17, 2023, to commemorate the 73rd birthday of the Hon. Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, a pledge drive will be launched during the “Sewa Pakhwada,” from September 17 – October 2, 2023, with the aim of raising 7300 pledges.

 

NHA team then gave a detailed presentation about the pledging portal in which they highlighted that the Aadhaar of the person will be linked to this directory.

 

After the presentation, the NOTTO & NHA team encouraged the guests to give their suggestions and answered their queries.

 

Dr Anil discussed the current state of organ donation in India and clarified several important concepts surrounding it. Guest NGOs discussed their campaigns to encourage organ donation and transplantation. Dr Krishen Kumar, Senior Chief Medical Officer of NOTTO, thanked each NGO for their efforts and urged them to participate in the Pakhwada event to support the pledge directory.
