MOHAN Foundation Invited to conduct an awareness session on Organ Donation at CorroHealth, Noida

On January 18, 2023, MOHAN Foundation (MF) was invited to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for the employees of CorroHealth, Noida. Ms. Nivedita Patil, Wellness Operation, Vidal Health (VH) Medicare Pvt. Ltd., had reached out to Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer, NCR, MF, via call on the landline of the NCR, MF Office, for organising an awareness session on organ donation for CorroHealth employees. VH has a third-party administrator (TPA) who arranges sessions for the corporate clients of their TPA; CorroHealth, Noida, is one of them.

 

Ms. Simran then coordinated with Ms. Nivedita to organise the session. Ms. Simran was the resource person. Ms. Preeti Goswami, Program Officer, NCR, MF, accompanied her. The session was attended by Ms. Arijita Anand, HR, CorroHealth, Noida, and employees of the IT departments.

 

CorroHealth is a corporate company that provides services by leveraging advanced healthcare analytics and unparalleled knowledge. It helps hospitals and health systems optimise their utilisation management (UM) and clinical documentation improvement (CDI) roles.

 

Ms. Arijita welcomed the MF staff and introduced them to the CorroHealth employees. Ms. Simran then began the session by asking the participants about their understanding of organ donation. Many of them shared their thoughts and experiences on the subject.

 

Ms. Simran introduced the attendees to the basic idea of organ donation. A PowerPoint presentation was used to convey the concept of brain death. She emphasised the concept of brain death and described the numerous stages involved in declaring brain death. The concept of "consent" in relation to deceased and living donors' organ donation was also explained in detail.

• When and how does organ donation take place?

• Organs that can be donated during life and after death

• Transplant Law

• Cornea donation

• Brain death

• Causes of brain death

• difference between brain death and coma

• Contraindications to organ donation

• Role of individuals and the public in creating awareness of organ donation

• Organ donation: myths and facts

 

The audience was informed about the process of becoming an organ donor as well as the importance of family dialogue regarding organ donation.

 

Overall, the session was interactive; participants enthusiastically contributed to the discussion and asked queries. To name a few:

 

• Can a person donate blood after death? And is blood an organ?

• What is the distinction between brain death and comma?

 

Close to 60 participants attended the session.
