Online Awareness Session on Organ Donation Conducted for the Students of ICICI Academy, Gorakhpur, UP

On 23rd November 2022, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct an awareness organ donation for ICICI Foundation Academy, Gorakhpur, UP and Academy. This programme was organised by Transplant Help the Poor Foundation and ICICI Foundation. Mr. Avinash from ICICI Foundation organised this programme. Around 105 trainees and staff attended the session.

 

Mr. Sudhir Dewan addressed the audience telling them about how important is organ donation and it provides the opportunity to improve the quality of life and save lives of others. It is the greatest gift one can ever give.

 

Ms. Neha Sharma addressed the gathering and introduced herself and MOHAN Foundation. Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Neha Sharma

 

In this talk, she explained the following points: -

  • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
  • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
  • She explained 5 myths on organ donation with their corresponding reality check
  • Difference between circulatory death and brain death
  • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
  • Real life story of an organ transplant patient was shared with the participants
  • Importance of the donor card
  • How to pledge or sign up for organ donation on MOHAN Foundation's website
  • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

 

At the end of the session, Mr. Avinash gave a vote of thanks. He said that the session was very interesting and informative. We thank Transplant Help the Poor Foundation and ICICI Foundation for organizing this event and supporting the noble cause about organ donation.
