Interactive Session on Organ Donation conducted at Thimmajipally District, Telangana

On 5th November 2022, an interactive session on Organ Donation was conducted at Thummajipally Village, Jogulamba Gadwal (Dist) Telangana. It is a small village/ hamlet located 200Kms away from the city of Hyderabad which has been adopted by Rotary Club of Cantonment, Secunderabad. The session was organized in association with Mr. Mohan Nistala- District Chair Rotaract Club of Secunderabad. Ms Srividya Subramanian was the key resource

The session was conducted for the village residents who gathered for a small meeting at the village premises. The entire session was in the regional language “Telugu” for the villagers. MS Srividya.S began the session by talking eye donation. Later, emphasized among Organ Donation. The following points were discussed in detail:

  • Organ Donation and need in society
  • Organs that can be donated
  • Eye Donation
  • Role of consent in Organ donation
  • Role of MOHAN Foundation in Organ Donation

The session was followed by an interaction with villagers on Organ Donation. The Village Sarpanch pledged for Organ Donation and motivated the villagers for the cause. Telugu brochures were distributed at the end of the session. Several queries were posed by the villagers. To name a few-

  • Procedure for allocation for organs
  • Contraindications to Organ donation

Close to 40 villagers attended the talk.
