MOHAN Foundation Invited to conduct an Awareness Session on Organ Donation for the Staff at MattsenKumar LLC, Gurugram

On October 10, 2022, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for the staff at MattsenKumar (MK) LLC. Mr. Sultan Ashraf, Manager Corporate, MK LLC, reached out to Dr. Muneet Kaur Sahi, Programme Manager, MOHAN Foundation, who had already conducted an online awareness session on October 12, 2021, for the staff of MK LLC and requested that Dr Muneet schedule offline sessions on the same day and time in three different MK locations, namely Gurugram, Jaipur, and Bengaluru. 

 

Dr. Muneet then coordinated with the Foundation’s representatives at Bengaluru and Jaipur. The Centre heads of these offices readily agreed to conduct the session on the same day and time. Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director, MOHAN Foundation accompanied by Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer, MOHAN Foundation conducted the talk at MK Gurugram.

 

Ms. Apeksha Pathak, Senior Manager, Leadership Support, MK LLC, introduced Ms. Pallavi and Ms. Simran to the participants. The objective of conducting the session was to familiarise the staff with the concept of organ donation, tackle the myths related to organ donation, and help them understand different ways in which they could contribute to the cause.

 

Ms. Pallavi explained the concept of organ donation with the help of a PowerPoint presentation. She initiated the session by introducing the concept of organ donation. The term brain death was explained with the help of a short informative film. She also shed light on "consent" related to organ donation after death. She explained to the participants the various steps involved in a brain death declaration and clarified the concept of legal death.

The audience was informed of the process of signing up to be an organ donor and the importance of family dialogue related to organ donation. To engage the audience in discussion, Ms. Pallavi continued asking questions such as: Which organs can be donated after circulatory death and brain death? What is "signing up" or "pledging" for organ donation? What can you do to spread awareness about organ donation? She also outlined the various ways in which the participants could join or contribute to promoting and highlighting the cause of organ donation. At the end, Ms. Apeksha thanked Ms. Pallavi for the informative session.

 

Close to 120 participants attended the session.
