Seminar on organ donation was organised for the nursing students of the MMM College of Nursing on September 24, 2022. About 90 students of 3^rd and 4^th year  attended the seminar. Mrs. Maha Lakshmi, faculty of  MMM College of Nursing welcomed Dr. Hemal Kanvinde & Ms. Arshiya Fathima.

The session started with prayer  and bible reading by the students. Ms. Arshiya Fathima (Helpline Counsellor) MOHAN Foundation arranged the information desk with information brochures, standees, green ribbon and donor cards.

Dr. Hemal Kanvinde (Quality Assurance Officer), MOHAN Foundation addressed the gathering on the ‘Concepts of organ donation and transplantation’. Her talk included basic concepts such as living donation and deceased donation, brain stem death and circulatory death, organs and tissues that can be donated, types of transplants and consent system followed in the world and discussed with case studies. She also spoke of the importance of counselling first for cornea donation and then go ahead for organ donation. She conducted the activity based learning on Protocol in hospital during a donation.  

As the part of the programme, videos on brain stem death and certification and another of a recipient story were played. Around 34 students expressed their support towards organ donation by taking a donor card. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs. Saranya faculty of MMM College of Nursing.
