Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd (AEML) in partnership with MOHAN Foundation, had launched ‘Jeevan Amrut – The Sweetest Gift of Life’, a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation for all their employees. As part of this programme, on August 17, 2022, Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd organized an awareness workshop on organ donation for labourers and non-executive staff of Adani Electricity, Mira Bhayandar division, Mumbai.

Ms. Jaya Jairam was the speaker for the day, her discussion focused on the following areas in order to make the participants understand about the importance of organ donation.

• Concepts of organ and tissue donation,
• The types of death i.e., cardiac death and brain death
• Procedure of deceased organ donation and live organ donation.
• Procedure of skin and eye donation.
• Barriers in the process of organ donation
• Myths and facts related to organ donation and its impact on the society

 

She appealed and encouraged each and everyone to pledge their organs. Ms. Jairam gave her own life example and explained how organ transplant can save lives. The session was very interactive, where participants enthusiastically contributed to the discussion and several questions were asked. To mention a few:

 

• Within how many hours of death do the organs need to be donated?
•  Do all the family members need to give their consent for organs to be donated?

 

Close to 110 people attended this programme. The N.S.S students of Maharshi Dayanand College performed a skit on organ donation, which gave a lot of insight about organ donation and boosted the programme.
