On February 7, 2013 MOHAN Foundation's team was invited to take a session on organ donation and transplantation for the nurses of different government hospitals of Delhi.The session was a part of 2 day workshop organized by the Continuing Nursing Education Cell (CNE) of Dr RML Hospital, New Delhi, on February 6 & 7, 2013. 

Today's session was second in the monthly series which is going to continue for next 3 months. The goal of these workshops is to sensitize at least 250 nurses from different hospitals of Delhi. These workshops aim at disseminating information and educating the nursing personnel on emerging trends in critical care nursing. Participants from Dr RML Hospital, AIIMS, Safdarjung, Sucheta Kriplani, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash , Guru Tegh Bahadur, Deen Dayal Upadhaya and Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital attended the presentation.

The session centered on organ/tissue donation, cardiac/brain death, role of nurses in identification and maintenance of a potential brain dead donor, the law (THO act) and various myths/facts around organ donation. It was an interactive session with active participation from the nurses who seemed well versed with the clinical aspects of organ donation. A lively discussion ensued on whether religion forbids donation and how well a critical care nurse would fit into the role of a transplant coordinator since they care for both the dying patient and the patient's family.

The session was attended by 50 nurses and 25 took organ donor cards.
