On 5^th February 2022 on the occasion of Buddhist society meeting, Ms. Anupama Shewde a candidate from Municipal Corporation of Vaishali Nagar invited Mr. Bulu Behera to organize a stall at Buddhist community hall and create awareness about Organ Donation to the audience. The program started at 4 P.M.  Mr. Behera organized a stall with MOHAN Foundation’s donor cards, broachers, pledge form standee and banners.

 Mr. Bulu was the speaker for the day; he started his presentation by introducing himself and MOHAN Foundation. 25 participants participated in the session.

He then touched upon the below topics about organ donation

1. What is organ donation?

2. Who can donate?

3. Types of Death- Brain death, Circulatory death

4. Which organs and tissues can be donated after brain death and circulatory death

5. Myths and facts about organ donation was discussed briefly

6. Donor card and its importance

7. MOHAN Foundation’s helpline number was shared with the audience

8. THO Act was explained

9. Information about governmental bodies who work for organ donation like ROTTO-SOTTO, ZTCC, NOTTO was shared with the audience.

Questions asked by the participants were as follows:

1. If any one dies at home which organs and tissues can be donate?

2. After kidney transplant, what will be the life span of the recipient?

3. Can a living person donate liver?

Feedback from the audience

The session inspired and motivated all the audience.  At the end of the session they expressed their opinion about the session.  5 participants pledged their organs.  They thanked Mr. Bulu for explaining the concepts of organ donation and its importance in India in detail.
