MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Swaraj Mahindra & Mahindra, Kharar, Punjab, Session 2

On 17th November 2021, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mahindra Swaraj Group, Kharar, Punjab to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for Administration Department. Around 20 participants participated in the program.

 

Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch.

 

In this talk, she explained the following points: -

  • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
  • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
  • She explained 5 myths on organ donation with their corresponding reality check
  • Difference between circulatory death and brain death
  • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
  • Real life story of an organ transplant patient was shared with the participants 
  • Importance of the donor card
  • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision
  • How to pledge or sign up for organ donation on MOHAN Foundation's website

 

Ms. Neha explained the importance of eye donation and the whole process of eye donation. She also explained how one could pledge to be an organ donor. To gauge the knowledge among the participants about eye donation, she asked - which part of the eye is removed in eye donation? Many answered that cornea is removed in eye donation. She encouraged the participants to start initiating discussion on eye and organ donation at their families. She said youth can be a strong voice to promote social causes in society.

 

The entire audience got motivated. It was an interactive session with the participants. In the end they showed great interest in doing more programs with MOHAN Foundation.
