Awareness session conducted for NCC Cadets of Adarsh High School, Wani

On 13th August 2021, on the occasion of World Organ Donation Day, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation for NCC cadets of Adarsh High School, Wani.

Organ Donation session was arranged in coordination with Mr Dinesh Sahu who is the Associate NCC Officer (ANO) of Adarsh High School also displayed NCC cadets March in honour of the Organ Donors.

Ms Prarthana introduced MOHAN Foundation and Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation as NGOs working closely for the cause of Organ Donation and Transplant affordability for poor patients. She asked about the organ donation to the students, but they told they know about eye donation only and are unaware about the concept of Organ Donation.

Ms Prarthana started the session and explained the concepts of organ Donation, why and when is transplantation required of various organs that can be donated, types of donors, types of death, viability of organs after retrieval. She also explained the difference between Brain death and Cardiac Death. She also elaborated the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, and discussed about the myths and misconceptions related to organ donation. She also briefed about Skin donation, Eye donation, Organ donation and Body donation.

Students asked the following questions:

  • What is waiting list ?
  • Procedure of Whole body donation ?
  • Can old age person donate their eyes ?

Ms Prarthana answered all the queries promptly. The session which began around 2:30 pm was attended by 63 NCC Cadets.
