Organ Donation Awareness at Government First Grade College in Khanapur, Belagavi

An interactive session on organ donation was organised by MOHAN Foundation for the students of the Government First Grade College, Khanapur in Belgaum district on 6th March 2021.

Mrs. Sheetal Mundada, Transplant Coordinator of the Foundation received the request from the college authority to organise the session for the students of Youth Red Cross, Red Ribbon and NSS. There were 120 students from these 3 groups and staff of the college present for the occasion.

The following topics were discussed in detail:

  • MOHAN Foundation’s vision, mission and activities
  • Brain stem death
  • Jeevasarthakathe and its role
  • Organ allocation system in Karnataka
  • Importance of donor card

Interaction points with the audience:

  • How can someone become an organ donor?
  • For what purpose is donated skin used, how is it retrieved? and from which part of the body is the skin retrieved?
  • How are the organs allocated?
  • Who allocates the organs?
