Launch Event of TRIOMPH (Transplant Recipients of India & Organ failure patients - a Movement to Provide Hope)

TRIOMPH (Transplant Recipients of India & Organ failure patients - a Movement to Provide Hope), a Patient Support Group, is a very special initiative by MOHAN Foundation with its mission to improve the well-being of organ failure patients, transplant recipients and their caregivers through support, education, awareness and advocacy. With this fundamental vision, TRIOMPH will strive to be a well-recognised and respected voice of the community.

The Virtual Launch event started early morning at around 8 am on 5th Sept 2020 with a video narrated by Mrs. Jaya Jairam showing views of compilation of Organ Recipients of being thankful to their Donor and how they are enjoying their second chance of life.

Ms. Shreya Siddanagowder's (bilateral above elbow hand transplant recipient) video was shown in which she had shared her personal story about how she lost both hands in a bus accident in 2016 and how she was emotionally quite down due to being heavily dependent on her mother for her day-to-day work and routines. She and her family realised that the only way of coming out of this dependency and bringing dignity back into her life was through hand transplant. She said that she received bilateral above elbow hand transplant in 2017 and shares that she feels blessed to get the hands and expresses immense gratitude towards her Donor.

Mrs. Jaya Jairam started the event mentioning gratitude to teachers, mentors and Influencers on the occasion of Teachers Day and welcomed everyone from MOHAN Foundation and the audience. She introduced TRIOMPH which is an acronym for Transplant Recipients of India & Organ failure patients with its mission to improve the well-being of organ failure patients, transplant recipients and their caregivers through support, education, awareness and advocacy. She also briefed about the roles and responsibilities of State wise chapter leads, expert teams and volunteers passionate about the cause. Then she introduced the first guest of honour Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram (MOHAN Foundation Country Director).

Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram, Country Director, MOHAN Foundation, inspired the audience through a beautiful story of a Filipino girl who had converted her miseries into wealth amid Covid pandemic through her leaf art. She also described the plight of kidney failure patients like unable to reach dialysis centres on time and recipients not getting adequate essential medicines stock in this pandemic time. She urged that the need of patient support group is the need of the hour for Organ Recipients as well as Organ Failure patients and she is happy that TRIOMPH will surely be able to help them. She then welcomed a special guest of honour, fitness expert, Mr. Saar Kashyap and nutritionist Ms. Pooja Lakhani.

Mr. Saar Lakhani showed a few stretching exercises, yoga posture which can help in day to day life. Then, Mrs. Jaya Jairam welcomed and introduced Dr. Sunil Shroff, Managing Trustee, MOHAN Foundation, to Launch the TRIOMPH. Subsequently, Dr. Sunil Shroff shared the vision, mission and objectives of TRIOMPH and virtually launched the TRIOMPH website.

Then, Ms. Pooja Lakhani, Nutritionist at Apollo Hospital and who is also on the advisory panel of TRIOMPH, shared information about the type of diet helpful for optimization of disease of Organ Failure patients. She also shared the importance of Optimal nutritional status in post-transplant patients. She then shared a few quick recipes videos helpful for the patients. Lastly, Mrs. Jaya Jairam gave vote of thanks to everyone who have attended and participated with TRIOMPH and guests of honour.
