N.V. Lakshmi, who is an organ donor has given a new lease of life to 6 others even in her death setting an example that “GIVING” is in fact “LIVING”. She had a deep passion for helping the under privileged children. She suddenly passed away at a young age of 52 on 7^th June 2011 of Brain Hemorrhage. Her organs Heart, Liver, Kidneys & Eyes were donated through MOHAN Foundation. Her family has decided to continue her exemplary work while keeping intact her values and ethos of simplicity and “purpose” and has instituted “N V Lakshmi Foundation” - a foundation that primarily focuses on educating the poor and needy children.

On the 13^th of December every year the N.V Lakshmi Foundation does a lecture on the relevant topics by eminent personalities as a memorial of N.V Lakshmi. This year the topic was “Has Medicine Lost its Soul?” It was taken by Dr. Evita Fernandez, Chairperson, Fernandez Hospital Foundation, Hyderabad. She spoke about the current scenario in the medical field and the  importance of patient care.  After that Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram, Country Director, MOHAN Foundation spoke few words about organ donation. Soon after that the speaker, Dr. Evita was ready to pledge as an organ donor. So, Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram handed over the Donor Card to Dr. Evita and she also spoke about its importance in our country.

Mr. Sachin Sunny, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation explained about organ donation and its misconceptions to the people, who came to the information stall. He distributed the organ donor card and brochures. All the visitors who came to the stall respond positively and were ready to pickup a donor card. Around 60 participants took the donor card and showed interest to create awareness about organ donation and its importance to other people.
