Organ Donation Awareness at the In-service Police Training Centre, Dindigul

Police officers of the Center Wing of the In-service Police Training in Madurai received training to understand the role of police in organ donation. Around 24 officers from Inspector and Sub-Inspector cadre attended the training that was held on 8th November 2019,in the evening at the Training Centre in Dindigul.

The programme began with an introduction of the trainer, Ms. Kavitha S from MOHAN Foundation, followed by a welcome address. Following this, the participants were asked to share their expectations from the training in an interactive segment. 

Ms. Kavitha began by appreciating the police personnel for their support and cooperation during the organ donation process. She then spoke on the following topics:

  • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the deceased organ donation programme
  • Types of organ donation - live and deceased donation
  • Role of police in deceased organ donation
  • Transplantation of Human Organs Act, Government Orders and Police Circulars
  • Protocols to be followed in Government hospitals
  • Few case studies that highlight the role of police 

The entire session was highly interactive, with all the officials actively participating and contributing. All of them signed up as organ donors as well, showing their support for the cause. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to the In- service team for the opportunity.
