Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Govt. Senior Secondary Model School Maloya, Chandigarh

On 23rd July 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the NSS Program Officer Dr. Paramjeet Kaur, to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for their NSS Students at Govt. Senior Secondary Model School Maloya, Chandigarh. Approximately 60 students from class 12th attended the session.

Dr. Paramjeet Kaur, NSS Program Officer addressed the students and gave a brief introduction on Organ Donation to their students.

Students were given an introduction & presentation on how important is Organ donation and tissue donation and too many people waiting for transplant by Ms. Neha Sharma.

In this talk she explained the following points: -

  • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
  • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
  • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
  • Difference between natural death and brain death
  • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
  • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
  • Importance of the donor card
  • To pledge their organs they can register at Mohan Foundation
  • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

All the students got motivated and convinced to support organ donation.  Students did applaud in the end for the efforts taken by MOHAN Foundation.

Few questions were asked by the students

  • In which case organ cannot be transplanted?
  • How skin can be donated?

All the questioned have been answered in the end and they would love to share their wish with their family members.
