On 26^th June 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Commandant, Col Harmanjeet Singh Brar to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their NCC Cadets, 09 ANOs, 07 JCOs. Around 900 Cadets from schools and colleges of Punjab participated in the program.

 

Col Harmanjeet Singh Brar addressed the audience telling them about the importance of Organ Donation and the need for organ donors has never been greater. There are far more people in need of a transplant than there are people willing to donate an organ.

 

Firstly, Ms. Neha Sharma introduced herself to the participants and after that she asked the participants questions to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation.

 

In this talk she explained the following points: -

• Organ donation types and who can be a donor
• The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
• She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
• Difference between natural death and brain death
• Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
• Real life organ transplant stories being shared with the participants and how they became a legacy
• Importance of the donor card
• How to pledge their organs and register with MOHAN Foundation
• MOHAN Foundation's mission & vision

 

The awareness talk ended with a vote of thanks by the JCO Shri. Jaspreet Singh. He encouraged the Cadets to be aware and spread the message of organ donation. The entire group was motivated and it was an interactive session. All the questions were answered after the presentation and 150 donor cards were picked up by the cadets along with Commandant, Col.  Harmanjee Singh Brar and the ANOs.
