On 3^rd October 2018, MOHAN Foundation Mumbai was invited by Mr. Nilesh Kadam, Community Connect from Apollo and Ms. Jyoti from Lions Club to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for all the 8^th and  9^th standard student at Elite School.

Mr.Nilesh Kadam has started the session and then introduced Ms. Jigisha Yadav to talk on New Gift of Life.

Mrs.Jigisha Yadav began her talk by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, objectives and history. She then asked them what came to their minds when they thought of giving a gift to others. They replied we like to give gift and even we like to receive a gift. So as, by the example of giving and receiving of gift Mrs. Jigisha Yadav correlated and told it is same like we feel good when we donate our Organs after death and someone gets a new gift of life.

Then Mrs. Jigisha Yadav has also explain the function of Kidneys, Liver, Heart, Lungs and also explain if it doesn’t function one has to replace them with functional organs otherwise the person may die. Like blood we get when someone donates it, so Organs needy will get only after someone donates them.Thus the procedure was also explained about Organ donation, retrieval & transplantation.

The concepts relating to organ donation were explained - types of death, types of organs that can be donated after brain death and tissues donation after cardiac death, difference between brain death and coma, etc. She also discussed the various myths and facts for organ donation. Lastly an inspirational 2‑minute video was shown.

 Around 50-60students attended the talk session. We had asked them to share the thought of Organ Donation with their Parents. We thanks to Ms. Nilesh Kadam and the Ms. Mohanti, Principal, Elite School and Ms. Jyoti from Lions Club for inviting us, thereby supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
