Awareness talk on organ donation at B. Braun Medical (India) Pvt. Ltd., New-Delhi

On August 14, 2018, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk on organ donation for the employees of B. Braun Medical (I) Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi. Ms. Garima Singh (Officer- HR & Admin) organised the session for the Delhi office. Dr. Pallavi Rekhi from the Foundation coordinated it and Dr. Muneet Kaur Sahi conducted the talk.

 

B.Braun Medical (India) Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with MOHAN Foundation have organised organ donation awareness sessions in all their offices across India this month. The session in Delhi was part of this activity. Founded in Germany in 1839 and with over 60,000 employees in 64 countries, B. Braun is one of the world's largest medical technology companies, specializing in solutions related to infusion therapy, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, anaesthesia, extracorporeal blood treatment, spine surgery, diabetes care, clinical nutrition, wound management, infection prevention and surgical technologies.

 

Dr. Muneet began the session by showing them an inspirational video on organ donation. The participants had various inputs regarding the need for organ donation in India and the gap between demand and supply. Lack of awareness, cultural & religious beliefs, fear of being ostracised from the community especially in villages and logistics involved in the whole process were some of the points that were brought up by the participants.

 

Dr. Muneet explained the various myths on organ donation and gave their corresponding reality checks. She also explained the process of corneal donation and how all of us as individuals should at least propagate and promote it.

 

Around 15 participants attended the session and 2 forms (Form- 7) were picked up.
