Awareness Talk on Organ Donation for Cadets at NCC Academy Ropar, Haryana

On 5th July 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Commandant, Col Rohit Thakur to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their NCC cadets, 07 ANO’s, 04 JCO’s. Around 500 cadets from 10 colleges and 3 schools of  Punjab & Chandigarh participated in the program.

Ms. Aakriti Negi introduced herself to the students and after that she asked the questions from students to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation. Telling them about how important is Organ Donation and the need for organ donors has never been greater. Also, has anyone ever donated blood? Many of them raised their hands.

Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Aakriti Negi.

In this talk she explained the following points:

  • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
  • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
  • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
  • Difference between natural death and brain death
  • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
  • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants and how they became a legacy
  • Importance of Donor card
  • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
  • MOHAN Foundation mission, vision and activities

The awareness talk ended with a vote of thanks by the JCO’s. They encouraged the cadets to spread the message of organ donation. he audience applauded at the end of the presentation and got motivated to support organ donation. They would love to share their wish with their families.
