A Diamond Mela was organized by NAC Jewellers on 12^th December 2011 at Hotel Le Meridien, Chennai. On this occasion Mr. N. Anantha Padmanaban, Managing Director of NAC Jewellers, Mylapore donated Rs. 5 lakh to MOHAN Foundation to create greater awareness on organ donation amongst the public. Mrs. Malathi Venkatesan, Trustee, MOHAN Foundation, thanked Mr. Anantha Padmanaban and said that, “A diamond is a special gift that a person can receive, but organ donation is the greatest gift a human being can give.”

Mrs. Sujatha, MOHAN Foundation, gave a brief talk on the concepts of organ donation. A short film on organ donation was screened and Ms. Veena, Transplant coordinator shared stories of deceased organ donors. The Master of Ceremonies became quite emotional following this and said that her family had donated her brother’s organs at a private hospital in the city last month. And she felt that they had made the right decision.

60 employees of NAC Jewellers, who had attended organ donation sensitization programmes conducted by MOHAN Foundation on 8^th and 9^th December 2011 pledged to donate their organs. All of them received Donor Cards. In addition, they were also given T-shirts and caps which had the message of organ donation printed on them.
