MOHAN Foundation participates in a seminar on Deceased Donor Programme in Kolkata

The Health Committee of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) organised a seminar on ‘Deceased Donor Programme - Cadaver Daan’ on 26th November 2016 in Kolkata. Dr. Sunil Shroff, Managing Trustee, MOHAN Foundation was invited to speak at the seminar on ‘Successful models of deceased donation program in India and how can West Bengal Move Forward.’ The chief organiser of the seminar was Dr. Amit Ghose, Chairperson Emeritus  - Health Committee, BCCI & Consultant Urologist, Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata. Other eminent speakers included Dr. V. V. Lakshminarayanan, Head of Nephrology, Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals who gave an overview of ‘Cadaver Daan,’ Dr. Vivekanand Jha who spoke on ‘Deceased Organ Donation is legal and ethical,’ and Dr. Rupali Basu, President and Chief Executive Officer (ER), Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals Group whose special address was on Kolkata being ready for Deceased Organ Donation.

The programme marked the beginning in BCCI’s objective to create awareness about Cadaver Daan. Members of the Chamber present were doctors, educational institutions, management institutions, hospital administrators and many more. Film Director, Mr. Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Ambassador for this cause, was also present. The programme was a success as it kick-started the process of creating organ donor registrations. The programme was attended by close to 200 delegates.
