On 11^th November, 2016, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Sanjay Jalan (President 2016-17) and Mrs. Rashmi Jalan, a Rotarian herself, to speak on Organ Donation.

 

The Rotarians of Bombay Bayview had their meeting at the Malabar Hills Club. Mrs. Jaya Jairam conducted the session and made them aware of What Organ Donation is? How it works and who can donate organs? When can it be donated and which Organs and Tissues can be donated depending on cardiac death or brain stem death.

 

She also explained as to which Organs and tissues can be donated by a Live Donor and by a Deceased Donor. The Laws and agencies involved were briefly touched upon.

 

She further discussed about the cultural, environmental and religious barriers, as well as the myths associated with organ donation. She talked about how one could support Organ Donation by either signing up on the spot or by registering online, taking up Organ Advocacy and spreading awareness through social media.

 

The Rotarians were shared with informative flyers. Mr. Sanjay Jalan addressed the gathering of around 60 Rotarians and informed them that organ donation awareness has been taken up by them as a thrust area for the current year.

 

The Rotarians felicitated Mrs. Jaya Jairam for the informative session.
