The Community Outreach Club at IIM Nagpur, organized a session on the need and importance of Organ Donation in today’s world on 2nd October 2016. Dr. Ravi Wankhede Director and Centre Head of MOHAN (Multi Organ Harvesting Aid Networking was the Guest Speaker for the session.  Mr. Anoop Kumar (Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur), Mr. Makarand V Alur (Project Administrator, IIM Nagpur) and Mr. Soma Sheker (In charge-SAO, IIM Nagpur) were the other dignitaries who contributed to the session.

The movie “Phir Zindagi” was screened prior to the commencement of the session. The movie touched the nerve of the audience and the message was conveyed so effortlessly that everyone could empathize with the situation that was portrayed. They also realized the beauty of living one’s own life after death by donating their organs to the needy.

Dr. Ravi Wankhede, explained in detail each and every aspect related to Organ Donation. The process of pledging for the donation, health requirements to be a donor, the rules and regulations involved in the process, the functioning of the human body and the different cases of death based on which organ donation can be carried out or rejected were discussed. Being a kidney donor himself, Dr. Wankhede shared his experiences related to the transplants which were carried out under his guidance. He also explained the need for a campaign for creating awareness about Organ Donation and how it could change the lives of many.

Both the movie and the speech undoubtedly left an indelible impression on the audience, driving them to voluntarily take the pledge for Organ Donation. The session proved to be educating and inspiring as many of the audience showed their interest in being an Organ Donor.
