Tissues Retrieved from 40 days Baby

Baby of Maheswari (Sonu) was the second child of Sri. K. Venkatesh.  Venkatesh works for Vamshi Rubbers as a Rubber Mixer.  Venkatesh and his wife were overjoyed when Sonu was born on 4th March.  Unfortunately, within 15 days, Sonu started bleeding from nose, and a few weeks later had to be hospitalised.

On 12th April, upon receiving a call from one of the city hospitals about a 40 day baby declared brain dead, Mr. Raghuram, Convenor of MOHAN Foundation rushed to the hospital and counselled the family to donate organs.  Although they consented for eye donation initially, later they consented for heart valve donation.

The heart valves and eyes retrieved on the morning of 13th April and body handed over immediately.  Although Venkatesh and his family are in deep grief, they said, “Our son has done what we have not done so far, saved four people’s life.  We are contended in the knowledge that we have done something good to the society”.

This is the 110th donation facilitated by MOHAN Foundation, and the fourth this year.
