Dr. Sunil Shroff and Ms Pallavi Kumar were invited by to speak at the 10th International Congress on Men's Health, 2016, from 26th to 28th February 2016 at New Delhi, India.

The Congress integrates esteemed faculty and specialists across all fields of medicine concerned with Men's Health and bring issues concerning men across the world into focus with the aim of creating a positive change for men globally. Theme of this year's conference is "Cancer and Men's Health: Genome to Geriatrics"

Dr. Shroff spoke on 'Challenging scenarios in deceased donor transplantation' and presented two case studies of deceased organ donors where the condition of the kidney was taken was the main focus. The session was very participative with the experts discussing and sharing their varied views on the subject. Ethical issues around the cause of organ donation were taken up.

Ms. Pallavi made a presentation on 'Counselling the Relatives for Deceased Donation - Key to Success'. In her session Ms. Pallavi stressed that every hospital carrying out retrieval and transplantation should be extra sensitive to the family of a brain dead patient. She spoke about 'decoupling' where informing the family about death should not be coupled with asking the family to donate the organs of their loved one. She stressed on the need to help family understand & accept brain death and reasonably cope with their immediate grief before they are asked to consider organ donation. Ms. Pallavi also emphasized that hospitals should not make unworthy promises to the family in order get the organs from them. She was able to attach a humanitarian approach to the entire concept of counseling the family members of the brain dead patient. While receiving the organs of the deceased might give life to many, but when the family says 'no', the hospital should respect their decision. Her session appreciated by the medical fraternity present at the conference.
