MOHAN Foundation invited to DAVIM, Faridabad

On September 11, 2015, MOHAN Foundation was invited to DAV Institute of Management, NIT, Faridabad to deliver an awareness talk on organ donation. The session was attended by the faculty and MBA and MCA students of the college and was made possible through the initiative and enthusiasm of Ms. Deepali Grover, Associate Lecturer in DAVIM.

 

Founded on 12th October 1997, DAV Institute of Management, Faridabad, is a leading business school of India, under the direct control of DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi. Since its inception the focus of the institute has been on providing total quality education, know-how of the corporate world, interface with the global economy, corporate social responsibility with a passion for continuous improvement and excellence.

 

The session was taken by Dr Muneet Kaur Sahi assisted by Ms Chaitanya Jonker. She started by asking the present audience about their awareness regarding organ donation. She then asked what all organs could be donated.

 

Further, she explained the organ donation rates, gap between actual donations and donation needs and types of organ donation. She talked about the Transplantation of Human Organs Act. She told the present audience about types of deaths and then explained the concept of brain death, its causes and procedure to establish it. A 5-minute video on brain death was shown when the concept of brain death was being addressed.

 

The concept of eye donation was given special mention and how each of us could contribute towards the cause was also stressed upon. Later, myths related to organ donation were clarified.

 

At the end, the queries of the audience were addressed. Ms Deepali Grover asked about the commercialization of organs.

 

200 people attended the session and around 32 donor cards were picked up.
