A one week Transplant Coordinators’ Training Programme was held at the J K Lon Hospital, Jaipur, Rajasthan from 6^th – 10^th July 2015. There were 72 participants from all over Rajasthan and Mumbai, Dehradun.  The training programme has been supported by the Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust, Mumbai since 2009. This was the 30^th Training program.

 

The inauguration was graced by Mr Rajendra Singh Rathore ji, Honorable Health Minister of Rajasthan; Mr Neeraj K Pawan, Additional Mission Director, National Health Mission, Director (IEC) & Joint Secretory;   Dr. U. S. Agrawal, Principal, SMS Hospital & Medical College; Dr Sunil Shroff, Founder Trustee MOHAN Foundation;  Dr. Ashok Gupta, Medical Superintendent, J K Lon Hospital, Jaipur. 

 

Minister Rajendra Singh Rathore congratulated the MFJCF team for the high number of delegates and stressed on the need for training.

 

The faculty from MOHAN Foundation –Dr Sunil Shroff, Founder Trustee,   Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram, Country Director, Ms Pallavi Kumar, Director Delhi NCR, took lectures on a variety of subjects like Donor Action Programme which went into in-depth details of certifying brain death; Concepts of Organ Donation; Legal Framework according to HOTA; Establishing Organ Sharing Network & Registry; Counseling techniques; Medico Legal cases etc.

 

In addition to the faculty from MOHAN Foundation, the faculty also included Dr. Manish Sharma, Nodal officer Organ Donation Programme , Rajasthan who spoke on Deceased Donation in Rajasthan; Dr. Vinay Malhotra, HOD Nephrology, SMS Medical College, Jaipur who detailed all aspects of Kidney Disease and Kidney Transplantation; Dr. Chandrajeet Singh Chandel, Faculty, Department of Anatomy, RUHS Medical College, Jaipur gave details of Body Donation in Rajasthan, Dr. Anita Hada Sangwan, Member, MFJCF spoke on Publication Education in Rajasthan, Activities of MFJCF and also the Donor Stories from Rajasthan; and Dr. Dhananjay Agarwal, Prof. Nephrology, SMS Medical College, Jaipur spoke on Immunosuppression.

 

The other legal, socio-cultural, ethical aspects of organ donation and transplantation, logistics, transplant registry were covered as well as detailed sessions on counseling donor families. A number of films on various topics were also shown to reinforce concepts.

 

At the valedictory session, Mr. Anand Vardhan Shukla, DIG, Deputy Director, Rajasthan Police Academy, congratulated the participants, MOHAN Foundation team and MFJCF team and its convener, Bhavna Jagwani  for the success of the training and said that it was team work that paid in any endeavour. He congratulated MFJCF team on the success of the cadaver donation transplant programme in a government hospital and this step of holding of the Transplant Coordinators’ Training Programme would go a long way in strengthening the programme in Rajasthan and giving it a boost too. DIG Shukla presented the completion certificates to the participants.
